Fair Questions

What are the dates for the 2012 South Texas State Fair?

The 2012 South Texas State Fair will take place March 22 - April 1, 2012.

What time does the carnival open and close?

The carnival operating hours vary each day. For times on the day you plan to visit, click here.

How much are carnival wristbands and ride tickets?

Ride tickets are usually $1.00, but a sheet of 24 can be purchased for $20. Be sure to check the day you are coming to the Fair for any special carnival deals!

What does it cost to get into the fair?

Ticket prices range from $4-$8. For specific ticket information, click here.

How much is a rodeo ticket?

Rodeo admission is included in the fair ticket price. For fair ticket information, please click here.

What time does the rodeo begin?

Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 30th and at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31st.

What days are Kids Days?

Kids Day will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 and Saturday, March 31, 2012. Youth ages 11 to 17 will be admitted for free until 3:00 pm and will then be charged the regular ticket price of $4.00. Entrance to the fair on Saturday, March 31st includes admission to the Rodeo.

When is the $1.00 Day Carnival Rides?

HEB $1.00 Night will be Monday, March 28, 2011. All guests with coupon are admitted for $1.00 and ride each ride for only $1.00. If you do not have a coupon, regular prices apply.

How much is parking?

Parking is free for the South Texas State Fair. Take a look at the Fairgrounds Map to find the best place to park.

When do tickets go on sale and where can I buy them?

Tickets are available for purchase online starting February 3rd.

What are the special days and ticket prices?

We have a variety of special days for the 2012 South Texas State Fair.
Thursday, March 22, 2012: Hames Wrist Band Night (Unlimited ride wristbands available for just $20.00 till 9:00 P.M.)
Friday, March 23, 2012: BISD Spring Break Day (Students ages 11 - 17 free gate admission until 6:00 P.M.)
Saturday, March 24, 2012: Kid’s Day (Students ages 11 - 17 free gate admission until 3:00 P.M.)
Sunday, March 25, 2012: Advantage Plus Homecare Senior Citizens Day (Individuals 60 years of age and over will be admitted to the fair free and ride the Ferris Wheel and Merry-go-round rides free until 5:00 P.M.)
Monday, March 26, 2012: HEB $1.00 Night (Patrons with coupon from HEB are admitted for $1.00 and ride each ride for $1.00.)
Tuesday, March 27, 2012: Conn’s Ladies Night (Females with a coupon from Conn's receive free gate admission & $1.00 carnival rides all evening.)
Wednesday, March 28, 2012: Sonic Drive-In "Two for One" Buddy Night (With a coupon from Sonic, 2 patrons enter the Fair for the price of one and 2 ride for the price of one on the Carnival Midway.)
Friday, March 30, 2012: Rodeo Night (All fair tickets include admission to the Rodeo.)
Saturday, March 31, 2012: Kid’s Day and Rodeo Matinee (Students ages 11 - 17 free gate admission until 3:00 P.M. and All fair tickets include admission to the Rodeo)
Sunday, April 1, 2012: Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper Cantastic Sunday (Free Admission for those with 6 empty Coca-Cola Product cans - otherwise, regular prices apply.)

Where do I get the coupons for special days?

All coupons for special days may be picked up at the location of the event sponsor.

What are the Livestock Show dates and times?

We will auction championship poultry and livestock two evenings during the Fair. On Wednesday, March 30, 2011 we will sell poultry and rabbits at the Auction. On Thursday, March 31, 2011 we will sell swine, lambs, goats and steers at the Auction.

Do you rent wheelchairs or scooters?

We do not have local transportation or bus service to the fairgrounds. Please check here for directions.

Is there any seasonal fair employment?

We do not have seasonal fair employment.
