Who We Are

The Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) of Beaumont is a non-profit civic organization founded in 1917 by Ed Paggi and a group of community leaders who wanted to make a lasting difference in Southeast Texas. For more than 100 years, YMBL has united business and community members with one purpose: to improve the quality of life in our region through service, leadership, and volunteerism.

With more than 700 members today, YMBL remains almost entirely volunteer-driven, guided by a 21-member Board of Directors. The organization is proud to be one of the largest and most active civic groups in Southeast Texas.

Our Mission

To promote the general welfare of the City of Beaumont and vicinity; to develop and pursue programs which will help maintain and improve Beaumont's educational and cultural facilities and opportunities; to undertake activities which will aid in in the enhancement of the city's and the area's agricultural commercial resources; to participate in projects which will benefit the city's youth as well as its elderly; to be ever mindful of the needs of our community in fields of health and welfare, public works and civic improvement, governmental leadership and spiritual guidance.

Our Impact

Each year, YMBL produces community events that bring families together, showcase local talent, and raise funds for charitable causes.

  • South Texas State Fair & Rodeo: Our signature event, drawing more than 200,000 visitors annually and serving as the League’s primary fundraiser.
  • Youth Athletics: From the Boys’ Basketball Tournament (70+ years strong) to the Girls’ Volleyball Tournament (one of the largest in Texas) and Junior Golf Tournament, YMBL invests in opportunities for young athletes.
  • Special Needs Programs: Events like the Babe Zaharias Relays and Rodeo Youth Day bring joy to thousands of children with physical and developmental challenges.

Giving Back

As a non-profit, YMBL contributes thousands of dollars each year to local charities and civic groups. For over a century, our support has reached nearly every corner of Southeast Texas helping organizations large and small meet the needs of our community.

Why It Matters

As President Ronald Reagan once wrote to YMBL, “The YMBL is living proof that organizations of good purpose have a vital place in the life of every city.” That legacy of service continues today, powered by dedicated volunteers who believe in building a stronger Southeast Texas.
